Introduction
The Skywalker STCW14N is a very affordable 14” diameter round trampoline and safety enclosure system, in fact it is one of the least expensive we have ever tested. For that price, you get a very basic system with below average materials and construction quality. Overall installation time is approximately 2 hours for the trampoline and enclosure.

Trampoline
This Skywalker trampoline is light duty. It uses a steel frame with 42 mm diameter tubing having a 1.0 mm wall thickness, which is the thinnest tubing we’ve seen to date. One interesting feature is the four plastic wheels which are installed on one of the legs, to assist in moving the trampoline. These did allow 1 person to move the trampoline fairly easily over flat surfaces. Enclosure impact testing revealed that they were broken during each impact, rendering them nearly useless. The spring count is very low, having only 72. The springs themselves have a small barrel diameter of 2.2 mm, and a short length of 6.5 inches. Our testers noticed the stiffness of the bounce, and the overall feel of this trampoline was decidedly below average. The mat has only 4 rows of stitches, and has no sun guard, which will mean a minimal service life. The pad is a thin 3/8”, and lightweight, so its effectiveness is low. A very short warranty period contributes to a high annual owner cost for this trampoline.

Safety Enclosure
The Skywalker safety enclosure includes three inverted U shaped assemblies which support the enclosure net. The poles are encased in foam for impact protection, but with no protective sleeves, will break down quickly in sunlight. The net is a thin plastic with a small aperture size, and a relatively stiff feel. The entry and exit door consists of a zipper, which is backed up with clips which can only be secured from the outside. Because this design is not self-closing, there is a potential safety issue with children who forget or decide not to zip the door closed. One unique feature of the net is the small slits around the bottom edge, which allow the V-rings of the mat to pass through and secures the net directly to the edge of the mat. This produces a clean, neat appearance, and holds the trampoline pad securely in place. It was also easier to install than some similar systems which require the installer to weave the net into position. Our safety enclosure impact testing showed that the frame bent significantly after two impacts at the maximum user weight of 230 lb. Also, due to the overall light weight, this system had a tendency to tip upward after user impacts.

Conclusion
The Skywalker STCW14N delivers a complete trampoline and safety enclosure system for a bargain basement price. As you might expect, for that price you get a bottom of the barrel system in nearly every category, including performance, design, and features. In addition, a minimal warranty period means translates into an Annual Owner Cost is high at $398. Most components are covered by only 90 days, and even the frame and enclosure poles are only covered for 1 year. The only compelling reason to purchase this unit is its low, low price. We cannot recommend it if you intend to keep a trampoline for more than a season or two.
